Maikel Verberk, affectionately known as "The Spirit," is an accomplished professional darts player hailing from Oss, the Netherlands. Born on February 3, 1999, he currently resides in Herpen. Playing right-handed, Verberk energizes the arena with his walk-on music, "Fireball" by Pitbull ft. John Ryan. His career in darts has seen him participate across various esteemed organizations, including the British Darts Organisation (BDO) from 2015 to 2017, and the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) starting in 2017. He has also been part of the World Darts Federation (WDF) from 2015 to 2017 and rejoined in 2023.

Verberk's journey in darts is marked by significant achievements. In 2015, he showcased his exceptional talent by becoming the WDF World Youth Champion in Kemer, sweeping all categories, including the WDF World Youth Cup Singles. His success continued as he reached the final of the youth competition at the Finder Darts Masters the same year. Furthermore, alongside Justin van Tergouw, he claimed victories in the pairs and overall categories at the WDF Europe Youth Cup in both 2015 and 2016.

In 2016, he added the Dutch Open Youth finals to his list of wins and secured the world title at the Junior Darts Corporation with a commanding 4-0 win against Jim Mosten at Alexandra Palace.

In the realm of the PDC, Verberk has been a dynamic participant in the Development Tour since 2017, a platform designed for young players aged between 16 and 24. His involvement escalated in 2020 when he started competing in the Challenge Tour, the second-highest division of the PDC. That year, he reached the final of Challenge Tour 5, demonstrating his rising skill level.

2021 marked another milestone as he made his debut at the UK Open, a significant PDC event. There, he triumphed over Martin Lukeman in the first round but faced defeat in the second round against Scott Taylor.
